Process: I started with a print of Van Gogh’s Starry Night mounted on canvas. I tore up a poster of the same painting and layered it on top. I used a poster of Van Gogh’s self portrait with a bandage as a frame for his “inner world” as I see it. I used glue sticks and mod podge to assemble everything and added the poem last out of scraps from my old philosophy textbook and a book of poems.
Meaning: The central panel is from an article about cave diving, an extremely deadly hobby that has claimed many lives. In this piece it represents the exploration of one’s mind, or inner world. For Van Gogh, this exploration was deadly as a cave, underwater or not. His deep inner world claimed him. As an artist I resonate with his internal struggle. This piece is my interpretation of a mind breaking.

Tech Noir
Tech Noir is a series of three futuristic jazz albums by Thomas Molina and Colin James Gordon. I was honored to be commissioned for the album art. Each collage is 16 ×16 inch. The canvases are wrapped in vintage magazines and maps. Each album is a vivid sci-fi fantasy- starting with a murder and ending on a distant planet.
